All I can say is a long power down cleared something in the unit and maybe the known issues came to be. Sonicwall does note known issues of the nsa220's experiencing issues when firmwares were updated from 5.8 to 5.9, but we never had any problems with any of the 5.9.x firmwares ever so why would I think it applied to our unit. Power went out during Irma and after it came back on that's when the problems started. I had been running the current fw version 5.9.1.6 onВ both sites for about 1 year with DPI enabled, NO issues. we had to change it to statefull packet inspection and speeds were restored. In that situation how do you configure the DNS on the FW? Do you use your internal DNS server IP or just use Comcast's IP DNS servers? Unfortunately I failed to notate the change log so I don't have a way to see how I had it prior :(ДЄfter exhausting all options and finally speaking to a knowledgeable sonicwall tech, it was discovered that the settings for deep packing inspection were causing the slowdown.

In main the DC's provide DNS and DHCP (unlike the remote which DHCP is provided by the FW).

I must of rearranged them differently and that's causing issues. Again, I had to rebuild 2 virtual DC's post Irma and I had to go into the FW to change the IP's from the old decommissioned DC's to the new IPs. So now I am thinking about the DNS setup for the main office. So it seems that something internally is not reaching the correct Comcast or other servers and routing traffic elsewhere? *confused* Now back to my desk and this time I want to run by selecting a Comcast server instead of letting the site auto select the server.well my list of server selections is shortened with only 1 server in my area (Miami - ) and the rest from other states, when before when connected to the comcast modem I had many more options to select from for Miami. So it seems that which I've used before with good speed outcome is just not picking a good server.

I noticed that it was using a local server from a company called ActivePBX, I changed it to a Miami - Comcast server and tried again - download speeds once again were past 100mbit, I changed again but this time to an Miami - ATT server and the same great speeds. Then I decide to open up, same slow speeds of 20-40mbit. I then opened up xfinity speed test.speed screams past 100mbit but with slow uploads of 5mbit (probably the node issue). So with that said I connected my laptop to the Comcast modem here in the main office, opened up and same 20-40mbit download with 1-2mbit upload (note we have 100d 20u). So I have not given it much thought other than Comcast doesn't have enough line techs to go around to fix the mess since there were many downed trees and damaged lines. I've been mentioning this remote office that we have but also our main office is having issues (same NSA220 with same fw version), BUT per Comcast they're still having post hurricane Irma related issues in a node affecting the area. Ok, so here's something else to add to this, hope I don't lose anyone. Direct connect to the FW is really the only way to be sure.

It could be a bad port on a switch, or a PC on the network sending out tons of traffic. Have you been able to test with nothing on the FW other than a single machine? What would you do to troubleshoot such issue? I have ACL rules that only allow outbound ports, I've removed those temporarily to run speed tests but no luck. I am at the point of looking for another isp, not only because of this but because that particular area always has random outages during any single month, and this is a major metropolitan area, not a rural area. I have rebooted modem, fw, switches with no luck. I can't be certain that there was hardware failure but I don't think there is. firewall and switches powered off and then when power came on everything came back on. I have made no changes, the only thing that happened was that the power went out, modem. I run via or which have always worked perfectly when giving me correct speed information. Note that the xfinity speed test doesn't work behind my firewall, I get a 'oops something went wrong message'. But when connected behing my fw and switch then the speeds are abysmal. Their goto troubleshooting of connecting directly to the modem and going to the xfinity speed test gives them the correct speed. Comcast has sent techs over and supposedly checked the dmarc and node and they see no problems.

After everything was restored we've been having issues with internet speeds. Hurricane Irma hit back in early September, power and comcast went out for several days (to be expected). I am having a situation that's driving me crazy.background info.
